The Ivy League alumni groups of Portland and Southwest Washington gathered at Paddle Palace on December 6 for a spirited MLTT-formatted championship. Alumni from Brown, Yale, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Cornell played a fast and competitive two-and-a-half-hour event. Oregon Sports Action supported the night with a community grant, and MLTT awarded tickets to the Jan 9 to 11 matches at the Oregon Convention Center to the champions. MLTT Western Division commentator Sean O’Neill served as head referee.

Brown and Dartmouth opened the semifinals with a match that swung on the Golden Game. Dartmouth led comfortably, but Brown fought back. At 20 to 19, Brown missed a smash that forced a Golden Point. Chip Sanchez stepped to the table, took a breath, and pushed his serve long, giving Brown a dramatic win.

The second semifinal between Yale and a combined Cornell-Princeton squad also ended in a Golden Game. The teams traded points to 20 to 19, then the mixed squad held on for a 21 to 19 finish to reach the final.

Dartmouth earned third place after a strong Golden Game performance against Yale. In the championship match, Brown built a lead against the Cornell-Princeton team and protected it in the final Golden Game. Jeremy Adler stayed perfect on the night and closed the event with calm placement under pressure to seal a 21 to 19 victory.
