Major League Table Tennis lands at the Charlotte Convention Center this weekend, where the Carolina Gold Rush, Florida Crocs, New York Slice, and Atlanta Blazers will test their early-season form. The spotlight is squarely on stars like Enzo Angles, Liam Pitchford, Yuya Oshima, Jeet Chandra, and Koki Niwa, along with U.S. National Team players Tashiya Piyadasa (Crocs) and Tiffany Ke (Slice) stepping in from the Free Agent pool to guarantee women’s play.
The Schedule
Friday 4pm: New York Slice vs. Florida Crocs
Florida Crocs — Reinforcements Arrive
Coach Frank Arias kept the Crocs competitive in Week 1 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds despite missing Andy Pereira and Liam Pitchford. Florida went 1–2, with a strong win over Texas Smash. Pitchford’s return and the addition of Tashiya Piyadasa give the Crocs a much sharper lineup heading into Charlotte.
Carolina Gold Rush — Stars in Form
Enzo Angles continues to deliver, recently defeating Marc Duran 3–1 at OCTTA in Orange County. Rising teammate Mohamed Shouman has been one of the most active competitors — and is coming off a title run at the Atlanta Fall Open, where he finished 1st, ahead of Alexander Cazacu (Chicago Wind, 2nd), Koyo Kanamitsu (Princeton Revolution, 3rd), and Daniel Gorak (Florida Crocs, 4th). Those results underline Shouman’s momentum and Carolina’s depth. Carolina also traded for defensive ace Wei Wang, adding balance to their Golden Game strategy.
New York Slice — The Magician Joins the Show
Draft pick Koki Niwa, known as “The Magician” for his sleight-of-hand shot-making, will make his long-anticipated MLTT debut. Coached by Adam Hugh, the Slice also added Haocheng Wang, Wenzhang Tao, and Kaden Xu in the expansion draft. Xu has already shown form with a finals run at the Princeton Pong Open. The addition of Tiffany Ke ensures New York brings strength in women’s play.
Atlanta Blazers — Expansion Winners
The Blazers reshaped their roster by picking up Jiwei Xia, Jeet Chandra, and Tom Feng in the expansion draft. With Yuya Oshima and Minhyung Jee already in the lineup and coach Suzi Battison directing, Atlanta looks well-balanced and dangerous.
