The Carolina Gold Rush reminded everyone why they’re perennial contenders, sweeping the weekend at the Charlotte Convention Center with three statement victories.

Mohamed Shouman electrified the crowd, with his backhand rockets and lethal forehand winners leaving opponents scrambling. The Charlotte fans roared with every point as Shouman delivered one of the weekend’s most memorable performances.

On the women’s side, Chen Sun stepped seamlessly into the lineup, showing poise and consistency as she picked up right where Hong Lin left off for the Gold Rush.

Enzo Angles made it clear why he’s the franchise cornerstone, outlasting Season 3 No. 1 overall draft pick Yuya Oshima in a dramatic third game, and defeating No. 2 pick Koki Niwa to anchor Carolina’s lineup with trademark grit.

Veteran Eugene Wang once again proved invaluable and steady in both singles and the Golden Game, where his experience helped seal crucial points. Kai Zhang added sparks of brilliance, delivering highlight-reel shots in doubles with Angles and stepping up in the Golden Games.

Meanwhile, Wei Wang struggled early in singles but regrouped impressively in the Golden Game to contribute to the team’s sweep.

And credit to Coach Shigang “Alex” Yang, whose Season 3 roster moves are already paying off. He’s earned him plenty of praise for his strategic vision and successful integration of new talent.

With three wins in Charlotte, the Gold Rush didn't just reload. They reestablished themselves as the team to beat in the East.
