The Atlanta Blazers won the Season 4 MLTT Draft Lottery on Tuesday, earning them the right to select with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft on April 30.
The Texas Smash have earned the second overall pick in the Season 4 MLTT Draft, and the Florida Crocs will select with the third overall pick. The Bay Area Blasters, Los Angeles Spinners and New York Slice will pick fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
The Blazers had the second-highest odds of winning their second consecutive MLTT Draft Lottery, with a 23.8% chance of earning the No. 1 selection. They now become the first team in league history to earn the top pick in multiple drafts, after they selected Yuya Oshima (SPINDEX: 2779) first overall in the Season 3 Draft.
Blazers coach Koji Itagaki possesses the power to draft any player from this year’s MLTT Draft candidate pool, which includes Quadri Aruna and Takuya Jin. This will be Itagaki’s first-ever draft selection as head coach of the Blazers, who hired him to replace Suzi Battison upon her departure after Week 15.
Another first-time head coach, Paul Drinkhall, now owns the second-overall pick in the Season 4 MLTT Draft, which will be the highest selection in Texas Smash history. The Smash had a 12.5% chance to win the No. 2 overall pick after the Blazers won the lottery, with Florida, Bay Area and Los Angeles all having greater odds to earn that pick.
The Florida Crocs, who had the highest odds to earn the first overall selection at 28.6%, will select with the third overall pick. The Crocs are now set to become the first MLTT team to select with every possible top-three pick, having taken Liam Pitchford (2897) with the first overall pick in Season 2 and Daniel Gorak (2670) with the second overall pick in Season 1.
