Shigang “Alex” Yang is a distinguished figure in the global table tennis community, known for his accomplishments as both a top-tier athlete and transformative coach. Representing China, he captured gold at the 1998 World University Table Tennis Championships—a testament to his prodigious talent. After transitioning into coaching, Alex led the U.S. Junior Boys’ Team from 2010 to 2016, guiding them to multiple international titles through his strategic and skillful leadership.
In 2009, he founded the Atlanta International Table Tennis Academy, where he continues to serve as owner and head coach. The academy has produced 10 U.S. Cadet, Junior, and Adult National Team members, along with two Olympians—Yijun Feng and Jeremy Hazin—underscoring its reputation as one of the nation’s premier training centers.
