Rachel Sung (SPINDEX: 2521) will make her Atlanta Blazers (2-7, 75 points) debut on Friday against the Los Angeles Spinners (4-8, 114 points).

Sung will compete in all of her new team’s Week 9 matches in place of Andrea Todorovic (2522), who was a late scratch from the Blazers’ active roster for that week due to widespread flight cancellations in Europe.

The Blazers acquired Sung in a December trade with the Portland Paddlers, in exchange for Minhyung Jee (2491) and a second round draft pick in 2026. Sung will play against her former team on Saturday at 10:30 p.m. EST.

Sung played in three team matches with the Paddlers this season, in which she earned a 1-2 record (33.3%) against Chicago’s Mo Zhang (2591). She was the Paddlers’ third-ever draft pick behind new teammate Jiwei Xia (2607) and Kou Lei (2777), and she won 10 of her 18 singles games (55.6%) in Season 2.

The U.S. Olympian is the Blazers’ first mid-season acquisition in team history, and the trade was MLTT’s first to ever involve a woman. She will join Todorovic, Xia, Jeet Chandra (2681), Tom Feng (2657), Kayama Yu (2765) and Braxton Chang (2687) in Portland as the Blazers look to rise from the East Division’s fifth seed.

Sung will take the table against the Paddlers, Spinners and Texas Smash (4-2, 74 points) from Jan. 9-11. All of Sung’s matches will be streamed exclusively on Table Tennis TV, which you can watch on tabletennis.tv, iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV.
