PRINCETON, N.J., Jan. 7, 2026 — Major League Table Tennis today announced the launch of SPINDEX 2.0, an expanded version of its official global table tennis rating system designed for players of all levels, from recreational competitors to top professionals. The update introduces Confidence Levels tied to every rating and allows verified one-on-one matches to count toward global ratings for the first time in the sport.

SPINDEX is a free, global rating system developed by MLTT that gives any table tennis player a clear, consistent way to measure skill level and connect within a worldwide competitive ecosystem. Built on a universal 0–3000 rating scale, SPINDEX enables players to compare performance across regions, leagues, and playing environments, regardless of access to sanctioned tournaments.

In addition to SPINDEX, Major League Table Tennis encompasses a growing table tennis ecosystem, including its U.S.-based professional league with 10 teams and Table Tennis TV, a dedicated digital platform delivering live matches, on-demand content, and original programming to fans worldwide.

“Table tennis has always needed a rating you can trust,” said MLTT’s Mimi Bosika, who leads SPINDEX’s global competition ecosystem. “SPINDEX 2.0 pairs every number with a Confidence Level, giving players, coaches, and organizers a clearer view of the match history behind a rating. Our goal is to create a single global language for the sport — one that helps any player, at any level, measure progress, compete with confidence, and feel connected to the table tennis community worldwide.”

The updated platform also introduces SPINDEX Challenge Matches, allowing players to compete in verified one-on-one matches outside traditional tournaments or leagues, with those results immediately affecting both their rating and Confidence Level. The feature expands rated competition beyond formal events while preserving integrity through match verification and confidence tracking.

Historically, significant rating changes were often limited to sanctioned competitions, creating barriers for players in regions with fewer tournaments or organized leagues. By recognizing verified head-to-head matches worldwide, SPINDEX 2.0 enables meaningful competition anywhere while maintaining fairness and accuracy across the system.

Registration for SPINDEX remains free and open globally. Players can establish an initial rating by submitting a verified rating from another system or by estimating their level using the SPINDEX Rating Scale. Verified ratings begin with a baseline Confidence Level, while estimated ratings start at zero and increase only through recorded match play. Confidence Levels decrease over time with inactivity, ensuring ratings remain current and credible.
